Graduation of Five New Graduates From Bethel Baptist College of Tucuman!!

Praise the Lord for the Bible college here in Tucuman. The future pastors and men of God are being formed and trained in this institution. We ask for your prayers for the college as we make plans on starting a new year on March 21, 2008. Our plans are to go out and promote the Bible college during January and February and recruit new students for our seventh year of classes. Our goal is to have 60 students next year.
We also plan to remodel the ladies’ and men’s bathrooms and purchase new mattresses for the dormitories. The college has many needs!! We have a piece of property to be used to build houses for married couples. With God’s help we would like to build 13 houses for the married students on this property. Each house is going to cost us close to $3,000. Please pray for this need!! The college needs to be expanded in many areas, but we would like to get these houses built. Thank you for your prayers!!
New Church in Graneros

One Thursday I took a three-hour bus trip and a few taxi rides to get to the city of Graneros. I went with Sebastian, one of my preacher boys. When we arrived at the simple, humble church building, we found Pastor Carlos Gannin waiting for us. Pastor Gannin is a single preacher boy who is 50 years old and still looking for a wife. We have a lot of fun joking with him about this. Bro. Carlos was excited that we came to help him that Thursday. He had been visiting and soul winning all week by himself. When he saw us, he shouted and praised the Lord for over an hour for our coming.
Bro. Gannin lives in the church building. A neighbor lady gave him an old, worn-out mattress, and he sleeps on a bench every night. He has a good heart and loves the Lord dearly. When it rains, the church roof leaks, so he puts a plastic tarp over him to keep dry. The church does not have a bathroom, so he has to ask his unsaved neighbors to help him a few times throughout the day. He dug a hole for the sewer behind the church for the new bathroom. However, he did not do it right, and it looks like a crater or a big ditch behind the church. Bless his heart. We are helping him with some funds to get a bathroom built. He deserves the best.
Bro. Carlos has been discouraged because he is by himself, so I decided to go every Thursday and dedicate the entire day to this new church. We went out soul winning and visiting all afternoon to get new converts into the church. In the evening, we had 9 people show up. I asked Bro. Carlos where he was going to seat the people; we had only four steel frames for benches but did not have any wood for the seats. Bro. Carlos said, “Just wait a minute, and I will go get some wood.” He went to a neighbor and asked to borrow a few pieces of wood so we could seat the people that night.
I told Bro. Carlos that by faith we were going to buy some wood and fix those benches. He is very flexible and would never complain. He has many neighbors that love and respect him but are not coming to church for different reasons. I told myself, “This church needs to be fixed up and filled with people in the next few weeks.” By faith, in the next few weeks, we were able to buy enough wood to make 12 benches. We also purchased bricks to build a bathroom.
The second week that I was there, we worked hard to get the attendance up, and we had 12 in attendance. Praise the Lord!! The third week we had 3 saved out soul winning, and to our surprise, we had 22 in attendance. Praise the Lord!! It was a lot of hard work out under the hot summer sun!! We have some people that are ready for baptism, and a lady that has a small pool offered to help. Another option would be to go to a river three miles down the road, but we do not have a vehicle for transportation. On the fourth Thursday, we had 12 saved out soul winning, and to our surprise, we had 26 in attendance. I was encouraged, and Bro. Carlos was shouting for joy. This church is growing!! On the fifth week, we had 28 in attendance with 18 souls saved during the invitation after I preached a very simple salvation message.
The people are getting excited and are starting to come faithfully. The city of Graneros has a population of over 3,000 people. It is way out in the country and surrounded by sugarcane, soybeans, and tobacco plants. Over 90% of the people profess to be Roman Catholic. Please pray for this new church. By faith we need to go forward and see great things happen in this city. Thank you for your prayers!!

The following mistake was brought to my attention that showed up in our June-July Newsletter:
“Praise the Lord!! The work of church planting just keeps going forward. We plan to start 2 new churches later on this year. Presently we are working on starting 5 new churches. Each church is growing, with an average weekly attendance of 105 people. Over 20 souls are saved per week. The preacher boys working with these churches are excited!! God is blessing these new churches. Thank you for your prayers!!”
It should have read, “The churches are growing with a combined average weekly attendance of 105 people.” I thought that I had the word combined in that statement. We are currently working on starting churches in La Cocha, Graneros, Simoca, Loreto, and San Salvador de Jujuy.
Thank you again for bringing this to my attention!! I apologize for this mistake!!
Thank you for your support!! We greatly appreciate your love and prayers!! Our desire is that you have a wonderful and safe Christmas and that you get to spend it with people you love. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
