February 2007
Dear Co-laborers:
"Faithful is He that calleth you, Who also will do it." I Thessalonians 5:24
Looking back over all that took place during 2006, all I can say is "!Amen and Amen! Thank God for His faithfulness to us."
We thank God for His faithfulness in giving us children willing to sacrifice of their time and finances to lend a helping hand. Not only are they active in their local churches, they have made trips "home" to help out. Liesl and Benjamin were here in February and our "adopted daughter" Lydia in March.
Matthew and Nicole paid us a visit in May, then Joy and family in October.
The most recent visit was from Nathan, during the Christmas holidays. All pitched in with willing hands to do whatever was asked of them or needed to be done while here. The girls helped out with the cooking (actually did the vast majority of it) and cleaning. Nathan was able to get in a supply of firewood that will probably last nearly two winters. Thank God for His faithfulness and their willing hearts.
We thank God for a pastor and church who are also willing to sacrifice of their time and finances. The day following the departure of Joy and the girls Pastor Ken Spilger and his wife Beth from Grace Baptist Church in St. Louis, Missouri arrived for a two week visit. Beth had already planned a menu, and took charge of the kitchen while here. Pastor preached a Bible conference, and presented the "Raising Godly Children" ("Formando una Generaciķn Santa" in Spanish) ministry getting families and the church on the same page through a daily family Bible time and using those same materials in the Sunday School ministry of the church. Please pray about this because some in the church here have balked at the idea because in "came from America." Both the idea and the material have a strong and solid scriptural basis, so please pray that God would change their heart attitudes. I recently had a conversation with a man from Ireland that touched on the subject of church/family relationships. He had shared with an English pastor that he thinks one of the principle reasons why so many young people are rejecting the ideas taught in our churches is that they are seeing that their parents and the church are not on the same page, spiritually.
Thank God for some recent visitors. The first of December a family from Brazil visited our church. Daniel, Leir and Daniel Jr. have been attending services faithfully ever since. Leir's grandfather was a Baptist pastor in Brazil and had the privilege of baptizing his granddaughter. At about the same time another Brazilian visited, Allan. He too, has been regular in his attendance, especially for prayer meeting and Bible study on Thursday evenings. In January, Antoņina, from Russia, began attending Thursday services. Her work prohibits her from attending on Sundays. Praise God for His faithfulness.
Looking ahead, we will soon be celebrating our annual missions' conference.
This will be the tenth consecutive year using faith promise. Thanks to the giving of the church members, we have been permitted to help with the support of eleven missionary families for about $65.00 a month each. Please pray with us that we will have a good conference this year, and that our giving will increase, enabling us to do even more. Thank God for His faithfulness in the past, and we anticipate being able to rejoice in His continued faithfulness throughout the coming year.
We thank God and you for your faithful financial and/or prayer support.
Your prayers have kept us faithful and helped us to get through several difficult time especially these past few years. We love you all and pray for you, as well. God bless you all! is our prayer.
