Dear Fellow Laborers,

As their pastor, I am writing on behalf of Missionaries Clayton & Cheri Livengood. They have served faithfully as missionaries in Spain for 25 years. My wife and I had the great privilege of visiting them for two weeks late in the Fall of 2006. We have seen first hand the blessing of God upon their labors. Truly they are like Jesus spoke of in John 12:24, a corn of wheat that has chosen to die so that our Lord can bring forth much fruit through them.

Thank you for your prayers and financial support for these faithful missionaries.

They have physical challenges that make furlough very difficult for the them. These physical challenges do not stop their ministry in Spain, but they do make international travel very difficult if not impossible. The physical challenges focus on Cheri’s Neuro Fibroma Tosis diagnosed while they were on deputation in 1980. They chose to continue to follow God’s leading and go to Spain. Since then in 2003 and 2005 Cheri has also had at least two strokes.

In spite of these challenges both Clayton and Cheri believe that God would have them to continue their ministry in Spain. I have spoken with each of their five children, who are serving God in their respective places, and they wholeheartedly support their parent’s decision. Brother Brant Holladay, the European Director with BIMI, and our church give our wholehearted support to Brother and Mrs. Livengood and their ministry as well.

In order for them to serve effectively they need more support. The decrease in the value of the dollar has obviously decreased their support. Cheri’s disabilities require therapy to increase her mobility. They need domestic services to free up Clayton’s time. They need an increase in their work fund to strengthen their ability to do the work of the ministry. The increase that they need totals $1,500 per month.

God has enabled our church to make a significant increase in our giving to their support. If you presently support them would you also seek to increase your support to them? If you do not presently support them would you consider beginning to do so?

We have missionaries here who are fluent in the language, acclimated to the culture, and are established on the field. It is a wise investment of our mission monies to keep this couple on the field as long as they are able to serve. Their faithful service, in my opinion, places them in the category of modern day heroes. Please consider this great need!!!
