Going to California for 10 Days
Greetings
from Tucuman, Argentina!! During the first 10 days of June 2008, we plan to get
away from all the work here in Tucuman and go to California. My wife and I plan
to go, and we will leave our children at home with our two sisters. It will be
an honor for me to see you in California and shake your hand and spend some time
with you!!
Dr. Ezekiel Salazar invited us to come to his annual Pastors’ Conference at his church. Pastor Salazar has paid for our tickets and has given us the opportunity to go to his conference. We are more than happy and grateful for this invitation and opportunity. Maybe we can see you at his conference or visit your church.
Our time in California will be short since we need to get back to the exciting and growing work in Tucuman, Argentina. We have a few openings in our schedule to visit your church. Please send me an e-mail to Argentinabrg@yahoo.com, or give us a phone call at 319-248-9736 . We hope to see you!! We will only be traveling in Southern California from Los Angeles to San Diego.
On the lighter side: One item that I miss and crave that we cannot purchase in Argentina is Mountain Dew. As soon as I walk out of the airport, I will try to find one. This may be a vain thing, but there are some things from the USA that we just cannot go without!! Just joking!!
Items of prayer: Here in Tucuman we have a Bible college, a soon-to-start radio station, and a new ministry to work with the addicted called “Cry of Hope” (a Reformers Unanimous branch). We are in need of a new laptop or desktop computer to help us get the job done here in Tucuman. It could be a used or new one. Please pray that God will supply this need while we are in the USA. Another item we need is a new or used digital video camera!! Thank you for all your prayers!! We will just keep going forward by faith!!
May God bless you and your church richly!! My prayer and hope is that we will be a blessing to you and your ministry!!
New Church in Loreto, Santiago del Estero
The
new church in Loreto, Santiago del Estero, is going forward. Pastor Miguel
Escobar is averaging winning one or more to Christ per week. This new church
just celebrated its two-year anniversary. During the anniversary service, they
had 47 present with 8 first-time visitors. During the invitation a total of 6
came forward to get saved. Afterward, we had 6 adults get baptized in a water
tank in the backyard. Praise the Lord!! This church consists of 6 families that
were won to Christ by the pastor. They do not have a church building and have
to rent a storefront building or meet in homes. They are saving up their
offering in order to purchase a property and build a new building. So far they
have saved a total $430 for the purchase of a property valued at $3,800. Praise
the Lord for this new church that is going forward by faith!! Evangelist/
Missionary James Belisle helped us start this church back in September 2005!!

The Reason We Are Here
by Liesl George
How
exciting this morning has been!! Around 9:00 a.m., a woman named Mirta showed up
at our gate wanting to get some answers. She said that she had gotten one of our
tracts (Fellowship Tract League) and wanted some answers to some spiritual
questions.
One day over a month ago, I was walking over to make a visit to a lady in our church. I was very discouraged since there were some problems I needed to deal with. On my way over to her house, I saw two women sitting down on a bridge. I simply handed them a tract and continued walking with a heavy heart. The woman who came by this morning was one of those two women. Praise the Lord!!
I invited her to come into our house. I didn’t know her when I gave her the tract, and I didn’t remember having seen her before. She told me her story and said that she was going through a lot of problems and needed answers. She said that she had gone to several different churches and hadn’t gotten any answers. The first verse I showed her was John 14:6 where we learn that the answer to our questions is found only in Jesus, and that He is the only way to Heaven. Then I showed her that the first thing she needed to know was that she was on her way to Heaven. Praise the Lord! She understood clearly and put all of her trust in Him for forgiveness of sin!!
From there, I was able to take the Bible and show her verses that dealt with issues she was facing. I explained how that by first accepting Jesus, she would have the Holy Spirit to help her understand the things she needed to understand from the Bible. One of the things she needed to see clearly from the Scriptures was that her salvation is permanent since she had been taught that she could loose it. She quickly understood everything and enjoyed seeing what the Bible had to say. She was able to see from the Bible what she needed to do about her different problems and was willing to obey Him. She even asked me if it would be o.k. to come by at other times and study the Bible together. Praise the Lord that there are people who have a hunger for the Truth and are willing to follow Him!! Mirta is currently coming by our house twice a week for a Bible Study and is coming to church. Praise the Lord!!
She asked why others don’t accept Him, and I told her mostly because they just don’t understand. For this reason we are here. Praise the Lord that He truly gives us wonderful blessings even when going through tough times!! Nothing can bring true joy like seeing others turn to the Lord and trust Him!!
Please pray with us as she looks for another job to enable her to attend services on Sundays. On her own, she saw that she needed to find another job. Also, she needs wisdom as she raises two children, ages 10 and 8, without a father. Their father passed away when the youngest was just a baby. Please pray that the Lord will now use her testimony so that others may also be saved from a life of bondage to sin.
