Urgent Prayer Request - Update # 1 - May 7, 2009
Dear Friends and Supporters:
Yesterday morning (Wednesday May 6) I got up early and took a bus that passes in front of our house at 6:45 AM. I arrived down town at 7:45 AM. I met Pastors Owens and another member of our church that is police chief and we went to the municipality to start the paperwork to get the church approved for public use. It took about 40 minutes to get the paperwork started and they explained to us all the different documents that we will need in order to get the church approved. Then we went to talk to the Judge and an employee of the judge talked to us about the fine we have to pay. They gave us 10 days to come up with the $350 dollar fine. We could not talk to the Judge so we could not lift the closing of the church down at that moment. We went back to the Municipality and talk to the director and asked for mercy to lift the closing of the church down. The director gave us his work that we can go ahead and hold public services as long as we are working on fixing the church up to pass the impaction. He just gave us his word of mouth and would not give us any official document. Praise the Lord!! We have some time to work on the church but we do not now how many days.
In the next few days the church will be inspected and they will give us a list of items that need to be done in order to pass the inspection. The fire department will be coming also to inspect the church.
Yesterday I worked at the church all day and in the matter of a few hours I spent $400 US to pick up some urgent items. The church was a beehive of activity with men working everywhere fixing different items. About a dozen men of the church plan to work full time until we get the church done and pass the impaction. Different individuals in the church gave me some money to help with the expenses. We plan to take up offerings tonight and Sunday night. Items that we need to purchase today or tomorrow is four emergency lights for the Auditorium, hundreds of square feet of tile for the bathrooms, fans for the bathrooms, drop down ceiling for the auditorium, put a new front door on the front of the church that swings out, purchase wood to cover the wood ceiling of the first floor in the ladies, men’s, kitchen, and bathrooms. Just the purchase of the materials will cost thousands of dollars. By faith we believe that this will all get done in the next week or 15 days. Please pray that the funds will come in so we can get this project done.
Thank you for your prayers!! Please keep praying!!
For Souls,
Brian Roy George
