October/November 2011
Dear Friends and Supporters:
Today (Monday, October 31) we celebrated the birthday of my son Samuel George. We invited the Contreras family and two other friends of Samuel to come over for a meal.
Before supper we decided to go to a local park to play Capture the Flag. After playing for 30 minutes, Marcelo on the opposing team was able to grab me and pull me down to the ground. I came down hard on my right ankle. I was in a lot of pain and stayed on the ground for a few minutes. Eventually I was able to walk to the car with some help. Later on we went to a local hospital to see a doctor. The doctor asked me to go to a bigger hospital and get an x-ray done immediately to see if there were any broken bones.
We went downtown to a larger hospital to see a doctor and get an order for an x-ray. I was jumping around the hospital on one foot since they did not have any wheelchairs. Eventually I got the x-ray done. The doctor looked at it and said I broke my fibula bone down at the ankle. He put my foot in a plaster mold and asked me to come back the next day to see a bone specialist and a surgeon. They want to operate and put in a screw. I'm in very little pain now since I'm sitting down and not moving around. Hopefully I can find a good doctor tomorrow and get patched up just right and be back on my feet in a week or so. We would like to ask for your prayers.
We have good news about the Bethel Baptist Church. Six weeks ago we started our Spring Program. On our first Sunday, we had 16 first-time visitors. Praise the Lord! The following Sunday we had 27 first-time visitors. On our third Sunday, we went up to 69 first-time visitors. Then we went down to 40 first-time visitors. Two weeks ago we had 33 first-time visitors, and last Sunday we had 21 first-time visitors. We have seen 420 people saved so far during the last six weeks.
This Sunday is our annual Big Day. We have a goal to have 1,500 in attendance. I have been working on this Big Day for the last three weeks. We will need to rent an additional 300 chairs. On our Big Day, we plan to have the military band present. They will be playing patriotic marches. We also invited important political leaders to be present for this Big Day. I have a goal to see 30 first-time visitors just from my bus route. The church is excited about this annual event. Please pray that we will have great victories this coming Sunday.
Thank you for your prayers!
