Additional Ministry Update – April 2011

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Concerning Our Housing Need

Just across the street from the property we purchased from Sr. Camacho is an abandoned house.  We asked the neighbors who the owner of the house was, but nobody knew.  Somebody told me that the house was built new in 2001 but had been abandoned ever since. From the beginning we have been interested in the house because of the location. There are no neighbors around the sides of the house. The closest neighbors are diagonally across the street. I kept asking who the owner was; eventually somebody told me that Sr. Arisio was the owner, but nobody knew where he lived. After talking to some government officials, somebody gave me an address of a man who owned the land next door that is being used to grow soybeans.  Sr. Orlandi, the owner of the land next door, did not know where the owner of the house lived but told me that he would inquire and find out. Three months later I went back to talk to Sr. Orlandi, and he told me that he had found a cell phone number for Sr. Arisio.  After calling the number for ten days and getting no answer, eventually Sr. Arisio called me.  He had no plans to sell the house or land, but he agreed to sit down and talk to me about the possibility.  After talking to him on two different occasions, he agreed to sell us the house with the land around it. Praise the Lord! This would be a lot better situation than buying land and building from nothing, since we would have a house to move into as soon as we can come up with the funds to purchase it. We look at this as an answer to prayer and are dreaming and looking forward to the possibility of moving into this house.

The house has the basics as far as construction goes. It has electrical work done, electricity hooked up to the property, water pipes installed, a sewer system ready, the foundation, walls, and a roof. It does lack final touches, such as doors, windows, a drop-down ceiling, and bathroom and kitchen furnishings.  The reason that we see this as such a great possibility is that the owner is asking only $210,000 pesos (US$52,500). He would like for us to come up with a down payment of $140,000 pesos (US$35,000) and will allow us to pay the rest off in monthly payments for the next two years. We already have $82,000 pesos (US$20,100) saved for this purchase. We already purchased one property from Sr. Camacho that is worth US$5,000. We have put this property up for sale.  After selling the property from Sr. Camacho, we would still lack US$9,900 to come up with the down payment.

The money that we have saved up so far has come from our personal savings; my dad; Mr. and Mrs. Ardell Versaw (Liesl’s grandparents) in Center, Colorado; the John Kingsbury family in Pine Island, Minnesota; the Lyle Snakenberg family (my uncle) in Harrison, Tennessee; Lewis Avenue Baptist Church in Temperance, Michigan; Faith Baptist Church in Wildomar, California; Missionary Don & Angie Berg in Australia; and the Steve Epley family in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. We praise the Lord for these gifts that have been given for this need.

Our entire family really likes the location of the house; and, to be really honest with you, our desire would be to move in tomorrow.  Yet, above all, we want the Lord’s will to be done. Please pray with us, as we really need to move by July. In August if we don’t move, we will have to renew our rent contract; and they are increasing the rent every 6 months by 10-15%.  We long to buy a place of our own so we can use God’s money wisely. Thank you so much for your support in prayer.

For souls,

Here are some pictures of the house and property need that you can study.

The property with the house is 3,150 square feet.  There is a vacant lot of 3,150 square feet right next to this property for US$25,000. We are interested in purchasing this property in the near future for ministry use. Our prayer and goal is to put a Bible-distribution center, offices, and a storage area for the church on this property.

The house is only a 10-minute drive from the church. Where we live now, it takes us 30 minutes to get to the church.
