May - June 2008 Additional Ministry Update
Bible College
The Bible college here in Tucuman is a ministry of the local church. Bethel Baptist Church averages close to 400 in attendance and has a goal of starting 100 churches all across Argentina. My desire and goal as a missionary has always been to start independent Baptist churches. My passion and desire is to start churches in order to reach this great country for Christ. This local church has already started 8 churches. Through our preacher boys, we have started an additional 7 churches. This gives us a total of 15 churches started. We will not be satisfied until there is a Baptist church in every village, town, and city all across Argentina. This is a tremendous task! We must go forward by faith!
Our Bible college currently has 35 students. Our goal in the near future is to purchase property and build a Bible college campus! Please pray! The Bible says, “How shall they hear without a preacher?” How can we start new churches if we do not have preacher boys? Please pray for the Bible college. We would like to see you partner with us to see this Bible college have an average of 120 students and put out many new pastors every year to start new churches. There is no better ministry in which to invest our time, our efforts, and our money than to train preacher boys to reach this great country of Argentina for Christ!!
Radio Station
We just started a radio station. We started to broadcast the Gospel on August 23 of this year. We plan to go 24 hours a day sometime soon. The church here is very excited about this new ministry. We started by just putting music on the air, but this past week, we started putting sermons on the radio. Different Bible college students are taking turns in preaching live on the radio for 30 minutes. They are excited. We have already received responses from people who tuned in and heard the Gospel preached.
The radio station is on the second floor above the men’s bathroom. In order to get upstairs, we have to climb a wooden ladder. We must be very careful where we step and also make sure we don’t fall through the hole in the floor. The radio station room is 12 feet by 12 feet. In the station, we have one computer that runs the station with everything pre-programmed and pre-recorded. We have one chair and a little table. It is a very simple room. All the equipment is plugged into regular wall outlets. If somebody shuts off the main electrical switch, or if we blow a fuse, the entire broadcast goes down. I don’t know anything about radio or how to run the programming or technical work. We have hired a young man that believes he can run the station and keep the Gospel on the air. This radio broadcast is supposed to reach the entire city of 600+ thousand people.
!!Praise the Lord!! Over $16,000 dollars was given in order to purchase the equipment, tower, and license.
We desperately need radio technicians to come from the USA to help us get this station up and running smoothly. We also need help in sending out a strong, clear signal so everybody can easily dial in and hear the broadcast. There are a lot of technical details that we are not doing correctly. Please pray for this need. We still need the following equipment for the radio station: new stair steps to be installed, a sound mixer, a microphone and cable, a tape player/recorder, a CD player/recorder, a computer for programming, an air conditioner, and electrical cable for rewiring all the electrical power. Praise the Lord for this great and exciting ministry!!
